I walk through the the kitchen remodeling center at Home Depot, and conclude, “all of this sucks”. I ponder, “what’s the point of windows if they’re always covered?” I think to myself, “10 to 1 there’s beautiful hardwood floors under this carpet”.

Hi, my name is Todd Carpenter, and I’m a modernist.

I accept that the majority of people have different tastes. I won’t even call it bad taste. There’s nothing wrong with colonial architecture… I guess. A childhood friend of mine lived in a modern home designed by his father. Many in the neighborhood thought it was weird. I thought it was the coolest house ever. On the way up into the hills to go camping or skiing as a child, not a trip went by without gazing upon the “UFO house” (The Sculpted House), and dreaming of what it must be like to live there. The obsession never wore off.

Since the beginning of 2005, I’ve been leveraging blogs to express my ideas in the world of real estate and mortgages. My network of sites can be found at mariah.com. This blog was a bit of an experiment for the first two years of it’s existence, but now I’m taking everything I know about real estate blogging, and applying it to my own passion, modern architecture.

Den-Mod is a place were real estate agents, architects, interior designers, artist, or anyone interested in modern design here in Colorado can connect. This site is advertising driven, but local, modern focused businesses can to promote themselves for free.
