“To drastically change the look and feel of a room without spending a lot of money, paint an accent wall,” advises Todd W. G. Corder, the founder of Deja vu Decor. “A pop of color will instantly draw the eye and is a great way to liven up a room with no more than the cost of a can of paint.” Where accent walls are concerned, there are a few details to keep in mind. The first is placement. Technically, any wall can be used as an accent, but it really should highlight your focal point. In living rooms, this can mean placing the accenting color around a mantle or some built-in shelving. In bedrooms, by the headboard is best. Aesthetics are the other consideration. A bright paint color certainly does the job, but it’s not the only option. Darker neutrals like black or chocolate brown serve the same purpose. Contrasting materials can also be used. Wallpaper is an excellent choice, as is a patterned tile or even wood paneling.
Laughing…crying…playing…fighting. A shared sibling bedroom is a beehive of activity and needs. And that means there’s a lot for parents to tackle when creating their kids’ shared bedroom. With twice the amount (or more) of evolving personalities and necessities, it’s often a daunting task for parents to accommodate storage, space and the individual style of each child.
This design also makes great use of added shelving on the fold-out doors themselves. When looking at fold-away kitchen storage, ideally no space should go unused. In the same vein, shelving is also well placed around the microwave itself.
Bring your love of any type of art you enjoy doing to the top of your ”coffee table”. Place paint brushes in a vase or interesting cup, along with books about your fav artists. Or site your needlepoint wool in a bowl or tray, or include a book about the subject. Don´t forget about the lower shelf of your "coffee table". If using three stacks of decor on the lower shelf change it up and use two stacks of decor above. A tray turns an ottoman into a coffee table. Fill it with fun trinkets of different heights also shapes. Use two trays for a large ottoman.
