“Texturizing a room is a game changer. Accent pillows in varying fabrics and shades can add another layer of depth to a room. Another opportunity to add texture is through the materials that your accessories are made from. Consider using metals, woven baskets and blankets,” says Dawn Stafford, the owner of Gathering Souls, a concierge design service in Fairfax, VA. Conceptually, texture can be a bit hard to pin down. The best way to think of it is by evaluating how an item looks like it feels. Take the picture above, for example. Consider how you’re easily able to tell that the surface of the coffee table feels rough, while the blanket on the couch is soft. Successful interior design is all about layering these contrasts. When you’re sprucing up a room on a budget, take stock of the textures in the accessories you already own. Then, look for additional items that would serve as their opposite. If need be, consider moving your existing accessories to different rooms as a way of giving your home an update that’s free of charge.
Sometimes its not just Jeremy and Sarah that you need to accommodate, but a 3-year-old Jeremy and a 4-month-old Sarah can definitely add another layer of design anxiety. The first thing to tackle is the furniture layout. If you have a baby, chances are you’ll be in and out of the room at night to tend to the baby. If possible, place their beds in opposite corners or walls with the crib being most accessible to the door. Obviously structural elements such as windows and heaters can dictate otherwise but your design objective is to give each child the most comfortable night’s sleep without one waking the other.
While installing rope or bar lights underneath your cabinetry can be a practical choice, installing them on top of your cabinets can create an ethereal, uplit effect on the ceiling that’s purely aesthetic. If a single ceiling light isn’t cutting it in your kitchen, track lighting is an excellent solution. With a single ceiling junction box, you can install a track light system that will allow you to direct light wherever you need it most.
Just like the canopy of a tree grows in time, so could your coffee table collection. Mix and match the various little tables to create a complex composition that suits your needs as well as offers you functionality plus versatility. Each table traits a metal frame designed to resemble tree branches. The frame braces three individual wooden tops. This is Zorro, a coffee table duo that‘s more complex with intriguing than you first realize.
Featuring a simple together with elegant design, the Rodan table has a pedestal base made of solid wood in-conjunction with a round top with a lip that prevents items from rolling over and falling. The design is both simple as well as practical. You could find it in white oiled oak, natural black American walnut or black stained ash. Just visualize how stylish a black coffee table with this design shall look like.
