Designers are always looking for ways to incorporate color into spaces. And for a good reason: Shots of bright color add visual interest and a playful feel to any room. One new way people are using color is with colorful grout. Once simply a way to seal the spacing between tiles, grout is taking on a fashion sense all its own. By dyeing the actual grout bright colors like teal, yellow and pink, a tile design can have a fun accent color that adds some artistic flair to a space. Read on to learn how to work with the new design trend of colorful grout.
Speaking of…under the bed storage such as rollaway drawers is always helpful in creating more space and can hold seasonal or limited use items. Storage chests with cushions can be used as a seat to a play table as well as conceal a mountain of toys. A wall unit with drawers can pull double duty as a dresser and desk. Shelving is super convenient for toy organization as it doesn’t take up a lot of space and can be placed above dressers, desks, even above the door for hardly used items. Similarly, placing a bookshelf at the foot of the bed doesn’t take up valuable wall space and may even give you another surface near the bed for a lamp or nighttime book.
A common way to make bright grout pop is to use it against white tiles. That way, the light tiles don’t compete with the grout; the grout truly becomes the star of the show. For added effect, extend that light color scheme beyond tiles. For instance, in the photo above, the light tiles match a white wall and white counter space and allow the pink grout to shine.
There are a few important inquiry you need to ask yourself before choosing a wall unit for your living room. For instance what will you be storing in this room? The answer to this inquiry can help you decide the type of storage your unit should offer (drawers, shelves, closed compartments, etc). You should also decide whether or not you need display space for things like artwork, books, photos or games.
One of the best options for small spaces is the media torso, sometimes also referred to as an armoire. These are similar to TV wall units in the sense that they’re cabinets with storage and space for the TV. In the case of an armoire, the TV is usually concealed interior a cabinet with doors. This type of wall storage component is slender and takes up small floor space. Its construction is organized vertically rather than horizontally.
